Paragon at Solid Mojo 2010
This article will be an experimental blog on Paragon's trip on Solid Mojo lanparty held 14.-16.5.2010 at Vantaa Energia Areena. The idea is to update the article as new stuff happens, we haven't tried this before so let's see what happens! If you have a crazy idea on what we should do at the event don't be afraid to post here, can't promise anything tho.
WEDNESDAY, 0:44 - xenophics
Only a few days left to Solid Mojo party. I have been talking to the event organizers and they sure have promised me an interesting event. We have been throwing around ideas like building Paragon's own Mojo tower to the event, where all our members could play on top of each other, or a competition which prize would be sauna with Paragon members and beer (and sausage). I'm still sure no one would participate that :)
FRIDAY, 12:25 - Kruf
Half an hour until the party starts. The guys are coming to pick me up in 15mins and I still haven't packed - guess I should be doing that right now, instead of writing to this article...
In completely unrelated news, it's a bit disturbing how many people are eagerly waiting to see the raid stream. Seems like everyone is expecting some super awesome playing and tricks to learn from - sorry guys, there won't be anything super awesome to see, just normal safe playing.
FRIDAY, 14:55 - Kruf
We arrived at the party place couple of hours ago and have set up our computers and even had time to visit a store for some "party supplies" (involves large amounts of soft drinks). The party place itself is still pretty quiet, most of the tables are still empty. The party network seems to mostly work, but there's trouble getting to IRC for those not using a shell machine it seems.
FRIDAY, 16:10 - Kruf
Spent half an hour setting up my UI, keyboard and mouse on the machine I'll be playing on for the live raid and stream. Sucks that I have to play in a low resolution and wrong screen aspect ratio, so the UI is a bit messed up here and there, but I can live with that. Sadly enough that means the UI you'll see in the stream won't be exactly what I play with, though.
FRIDAY, 16:35 - xenophics
So here we are officially! Sadly I didn't take my computer to the event so I'll need to try to entertain myself some other way. I've only been here for a couple of hours and I'm already a bit bored :/ Maybe I should go and play some machine dance games. It's the first summer day here in Helsinki (for me at least) and it's HOT outside so I'm not complaining.
Our live raid will start at 20:00 Finnish time and I'll be narrating it, last time I nearly lost my voice but had a lot of fun. Anyway, off to watch Nalena play some more arena on the tournament realm. God damn I have a lot to learn if I want to pvp some day on my priest.

Just saw the worst playback gig ever, they were just jumping around stage like crazy monkeys. I'm glad they didnt show that on the stream!
So raid starts in about 1hour, be ready for it!
FRIDAY, 22:10 - Kruf
Just finished the live raid. A few things to say; the computer was kinda crap, really low fps with heavy spell effects, playing with image horribly stretched sideways is no very much fun, and last of all: it's really hard to concentrate on playing when someone's explaining what's happening right beside you. I could barely hear our Ventrilo over xenophics' speech.
At least we killed everything without wiping.
FRIDAY, 22:12 - xenophics
Phew, it's over. I'm beginning to lose my voice again but I guess the narration went pretty fine. I was happy and satisfied when I walked back to our computer places but then I heard the stream had crashed like 20 times. We had over 800 people watching back on the Assembly stream but only peaked over 500 this time. I guess this is a lesson to us to work harder to ensure good quality stream, especially as we really looked forward to show people our raiding.
Next we are going to judge a screenshot competition. None of us has an idea what we should do, but I guess we'll just err, talk something. After that is Paragon's private sauna. yay \o/
SATURDAY, 00:46 - Nalena
So the pictures have been evaluated and a winner has been picked. Gotta hand it to all the participants for taking the time to make this LAN party slightly more interesting. Xeno and I managed to score a few officer points on the side as well.
Now, it's SAUNA TIEM!
SATURDAY, 02:32 - xenophics
The sauna was super relaxing, we only missed our trial, Verdisha, to cater us beer and vinegrapes, wash our backs and throw water to the stove. And buff mark of the wild of course. Now we are back at my and Arx's place, we got Lazei, Maeil, Nalena and Paragon's famous DJ Kesiz sleeping here. Nighty night!
SATURDAY, 17:14 - arx
Turns out cramping six people into a small flat is a rather... hot experience. I decided to pay a little visit to the party place today! Haven't done a whole lot without my own computer here, but the AC is very nice after the previous night. Plus I might get to avoid going through another package of tissues, since all the pollen is outside and I'm inside!
SATURDAY, 21:29 - xenophics
Solid Mojo is over from my part. We had a lot of fun at the party and met some awesome new people. Huge thanks goes to the event organizers (especially Oggen) who took excellent care of us.
Now is the time to head to some local bar with DJ Kezis, Nalena and Maeil. Let's see what happens. ^^
SUNDAY, 03:24 - xenophics
Finally back from ze bars. Tried to get into Huuma but had youngsters (under 20 years old) with us so we went to Amarillo instead. Boys tell me the booze was cheap (!?). I'm more of a dance person so I ended dancing for 3-4 hours and my legs are _broken_. I promised to drive us home (high heels + pedals anyone) so I had to borrow Nalena's shoes. They are really comfortable I must say. I gotta hand it to DJ Kesiz, Nalena on Maeil, they have some crazy dance moves, definitely going to go again some other time with em.
