Dreamhack and the survey!

Just posting some updates about how the research is going and what has been happening the last couple of days.

Last friday I got a very intersting phone-call from the nice people at Dreamhack (the largest digital festival/event and they had taken interest in the survey and what I do. We talked for a while and decided to start helping each other out, so some hours later a newsletter from Dreamhack with information about the survey went out to a lot of e-mail addresses! I do not think I need to explain that this really panned out great and the survey had over 300 respondents this Sunday! So I can't thank Dreamhack enough for the help they have provided me with the distrubution of the survey. I hope I will see all you at Dreamhack this summer in Jönköping, at least I will surely be there!

On another note I have tried some different methods in trying to reach people in-game and one thing that is already clear is that the only way to get any attention and some responses is to have a high level character. At the servers where I created a level 1 Warlock I got blamed instantly for being a "scammer" and "hacker". It thus seems that the best way to create credibility is to actually show that you have invested time into the game :)

So if you ever feel like promoting my survey just go ahead and write the people in your guilds, raids or just in the trade-channel!

Great news, Sebastian!

And yes, I think it's a very hard part of our work, trying to talk to people on servers. I have found that's not worked at all in my work if I try to roll up characters and talk to people randomly. It's sad that we've got a lot of people to mistrust.

Anyway, glad to hear Dreamhack has been supportive and hope you get some interesting results! Keep me posted? :)
