Arena Pass: Week 2 Ladder

Last week we wrote about how communities were doing in this Arena Pass: Community Challenge ladder, but sadly that didn't qualify for the contest. This week we went straight to the 3vs3 ladders, the 25-man heroic raids of arena competing and found out what's arena really about. Looking at the teams at the top of the ladder it seems it's all about having a shaman and a warlock in the team. Seems like a priest, a rogue and a death knight also qualify. Shamans and warlocks definitely aren't the hottest shit on pve, but now we can see where they are compensated at.

 

The team leading 3vs3 ladder (with 2648 rating) is "man check this guys name". I checked all the names but the only a bit weirder was a mage who is called Cantblockgcd and he has only played 9 games. I guess the idea is to bluff and get the opponent to wonder the name while winning. I wonder if that would work in pve, we could rename ourselves "wow check out this paladin's spec" and have all the ohter top guilds wondering what is so special.

 

The number two team with 11 less rating is "by fire be purged". Now this is something we pve players can understand. Of course it's a quote from Ragnaros, a soon to be latest end boss of the game. These guys use a priest instead of a rogue.

 

The number three team, with 2629 rating is "breathe dawg breathe". These guys have a played a bit less games than the other two teams, and I could image the team name being a quote of some dragon. Maybe an add could yell that to Deathwing.

A quick look at 2vs2 ladder tells us that a melee is quite good to have. Wati burst, nammo cleave and kenan and kell are all above 2349 rating, and none of the teams has locks, weird. 5vs5 looks quite deserted judging from the ratings, a team can take the leading spot with only 8 games. Mumma likes it big is leading with 766, ShamenFtw comes second and Pink Flag is the third.

 

I and arx decided to spice up this pvp experience a bit and both picked a team from current top 10 (based on the name) which we'll be rooting for during the tournament. The one whose team is higher on the ladder in the end of the tournament will have to pay our food for 1 week. Arx is a Game of Thrones geek and went ahead and picked "winter is coming" which has 2 frost mages and in it...... .... .. . - and smiled retarded. I had a harder time selecting my favourite and ended up picking "shadowlulz", which reminds me of some of my arena playing friends and their opinion about rogues. So after this it's "winter is coming" vs "shadowlulz", don't forget it.
