Hello. After over 20 hours of marathon, I reached level 85 and started grinding dungeons to get prepared for Cataclysm raid. I knew that with my current gear mana regeneration might be issue so i wasnt suppriced with my mana bar going to 0 after every pack of trash. Healing normal dungeons was fun and after few changes i got used to it. My huge problems started with first tries on heroic dungeons. With setup prot worrior, feral druid, hunter, rogue + me as a resto shaman, i barely could keep my mana to 50% of boss hit points. Serious problems started with first heroic instances. I tried different setups and i can do nothing my with mana, when group is not taking any damage, i'm, obviously fine, but when it comes to a bit harder healing like Karsh Steelbender from Blackrock , i go oom within 10 seconds and group isnt even topped on HP.
When damage isnt hard, i'm healing with Healing Wave to save mana, when more targets is affected, then Chain Heal, for tanks I use Healing Surge. Had to completelly forget about Healing Rain because of to high mana coast. I'm using spirit food, flask of pure mojo, rotating all possible cd's with our tank to save my mana but i'm not able to keep up group on heroic dungeon. To save some mana, i was putting totems down, Riptide on tank, quick drink and he was pulling boss then. Also mage/hunter was using BL to save again 5% of my mana but still that was not enough. I know that my gear is in early stage of Cataclysm but so far i'm not really able to heal heroic dungeons unless we take 2 healers to group which is just sad :(
Here is my armory, if Paragon shamans have any tips how to manage mana regeneration and heal more effectively, i will be very appreciated.

I'm not an expert in Restoration Shamans, but I've healed HC's pretty well so far in Cataclysm. What I'm saying now might be wrong, but it works fine for me right now at least.
The main healing spell I use is Healing Wave. That's the spell you can spam without going oom. Before you use HW you should always keep up Riptide. Riptide should always be on cooldown, because it helps your Healing Wave a lot. So, as long as no one are taking an extremely amount of damage, you should be fine with spamming Healing Wave and Riptide only. Both on the tank, yourself and the DPS. If there is a lot of AoE damage, you can put down Healing Rain if you're standing close to each other, I wouldn't say Chain Heal is such a good option here actually, even if you are standing pretty close. Chain Heal eats your mana if you're using it too much, so if no one are about to die, you should be fine with Healing Wave and Riptide. Healing Rain also, in some situations.I use Chain heal only in some situations where there is AoE damage, but not so much.
You're saying you use Healing Surge while healing tanks, this is a pretty big nono. Healing Surge will eat your mana, whatever you do with it. I would say Healing Surge is a pretty "omg paniiiic the tank is dying-spell", which you should only use in such situations where someone is about to die.
Of course there will be situations where the tank and or the whole group are taking loads of damage and you are about to go oom, you need to find some sort of rotations to keep your mana up. Don't just spam one heal (maybe Healing Surge in this situation if everyone's about to die), choose your heals carefully - start up with Riptide on the person who needs to survive, cast one Healing Wave on everyone for example; and do only use Healing Surge when it is important to heal someone up, or if they are about to die. If you've got some mana to spare, cast Healing Rain if you are close to each other; but are you about to go oom; save your mana for Healing Wave and Riptide instead.
This is what I am used to do, but as I said, I am not perfectly sure if it's the best solution.
