Edit: Actually when I started to think it more I know at least one good trance song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IV9rf2tv6Lk its from W&W, they have couple decent tracks. I'm not that much into trance but if I listen to it, must be hard or massive bass.

Mm, I'm not sure what kind of trance you like, but I'd simply start with ASOT (A State of Trance). Myself I like a bit more psytrance-ish trance, such as Yahel.
If you'd like to check out some of my favourite artists you can visit my last.fm page: http://www.last.fm/user/xenophics

As Xenophics said 'ASOT' is probably the best way to start listening to trance.
But you asked for artists, so here is some of the ones i think produce some pretty awesome stuff.
- W&W, Philippe El Sisi, Arnej, TyDi, Cosmic Gate, Gareth Emery, First State, John O'Callaghan, Lange, Markus Schulz, Max Graham, Push (M.I.K.E), Shogun, Talla 2XLC, Aly & Fila, Yuri Kane, 4 Strings, Dash Berlin, Matt Darey, Armin Van Buuren.
This is definetely worth a listen as well.
