Elemental Dps - Help Please

I am currently at a point in which my DPS is not where I would like it. And My guild is currently unpleased with it as am I. Im here looking for some tips and some hints maybe a spec , Glpyh , Rotation Change

I checked your armory and logs fast and as far as gear or talents/glyphs goes, everything seems pretty good. So I have to agree that the dps really isn't where it should be.

I tried to compare my logs to yours and see whats the different in there, only major different I came a cross with was the number of spells casted. Even while some boss fights have taken almost one minute longer for your guild to kill, you only had around 10 to 20 lightning bolts more during the boss then I've had in a lot shorter fight.

So is it possible that you have pretty high latency or could you try reduce the time you spend moving? It's hard to tell just from seeing logs but to me it seems like you aren't casting as many spells as you could.


If we compare our Saurfang kills your guild killed it in 3min 16sec and Paragon kill took 2min 17sec. Yet you only had 87 lightning bolts casted while I have 85. So in a 1min longer fight you had almost same amount of spells cast.

Also there is a few smaller things such as using wild magic during haste buffs to maximize the lightning bolts casted with extra spell power(I didn't check every fight, could be that you just used it bit badly on those which i checked) and using dps totem instead of ToW, but I can understand that the later one isn't possible if you don't have second elemental shaman or demo lock in raid

Im really Glad you Got back to me.

Umm I really tend to use Wild Magic when I do use Heroism. And What Dps Totem would you recommend Because I totally forgot our warlock plays Demo Right now.

What should I be pre-potting with Speed or Wild Magic?

And I tend not to do Chain Lightning at all which some people do others dont..
I usually only cast it on Saurfang , and PP when the ooze gets close to him

Yea, didn't check your buff gains that much on other then Saurfang. And in that fight you took wild magic so that it actually faded before heroism or EM. But it's just a minor thing.

For pre potting I personally use only wild magic atm. Mainly because we tend to use blood lust at start of the boss most of the time and even if we don't I open with EM+engineering gloves which takes my haste so high that speed potion would be pretty much wasted as my cast time would drop below gcd.

For dps totems, fire elemental is the strongest one. For the other totems, magma totem is great when there is multiple targets and for single target fights searing totem is the best way to go.

I don't use CL that much in single target, it's good some times to sync your cast so that you get lava burst soon as it comes off cool down but other then that I don't cast it unless there is more then 1 target. If there is more then 1 target available CL should be used on every cool down since it's fairly big dps increase.

Yeah I suck at potting because most fights... we pull b4 we really want to and I dont get my pre pot.. usually.

And.. Say on Saurfang Do I just drop it where i stand and will searing totem go that far?
And for Lava Burst I use PowerAuras Add on So I know exactly when its off cd

What I meant with CL on single target dps, was that for example some times you have 0.7sec left on LvB cool down so it's better to cast CL which has 1sec cast then LB with 1.2sec cast. Difference is small, but it can earn you some dps gain

Cant really say for sure will searing totem reach the boss without knowing where you exactly stand but it needs to be pretty close to the target to reach (20 yards iirc). I normally stand bit closer then other casters to boss so i can easily drop totems so they reach raid and boss.

About professions, I'm not 100% sure if it's worth of re rolling professions at this point of the expansion. Since cataclysm is near and it will most likely have pretty big changes on professions. Of course if your guild is still progressing in ICC it might be worth it, specially on Lich King where rocket boots can be pretty handy... (or deadly like for me in last reset....)

Ummm We made a decision Were not even going to attempt LK 25m Heroic. We dont have Enough solid players in our 25m Heroic Set-up. We are going to get Hailion down and make Sindragosa a Clean kill


As for my professions - I think at this point they might start replacing me for a higher end dps... i.e - Spriest - Lock or something.. I wanted to see if engineering could increase my dps a bit more.
