I don't know why, but my dps has stayed fairly consistent, and has only increased to around 8K on average, despite getting all this new gear. Prior to receiving Zod's Repeating Longbow, 2PC T10 and my new weapon, I was pulling about 6.5k - 7k dps on average. Nothing has changed in my rotation, and I have even incorporated Potions of Wild Magic during my CD popping phase, but my DPS is terrible.

Why would you pop Wild Magic in combat instead of Speed? Yes, haste is worse stat overall, but 500 haste rating is still a lot better than 200 crit rating. Especially if you use it when no other haste buff is up.

You're somewhat over hitcap, could try replacing one hit item with something else to avoid wasting points. NES is crap, even Greatness is usually better (didn't simulate with your gear, though).

What happened on Saurfang, you were idle for almost half the fight?
On Festergut you had horrible 2T10 procs, only one for the whole fight.
On Putricide you ate 3 Malleable Goos, that's gonna hurt your dps.

Generally the other hunter is hitting much harder, sadly he's got pvp gear on so I can't comment on the exact reason why. Are you using the best arrows?

Am I ready for gemming Arpen at this point?

No. As long as you have that worst-trinket-ever NES on you're never ready for arpen gems. Though you might want to gem enough arpen to be capped when the trinket procs.

What can I do better to get more autoshots in?

Move less. Use haste potion at a good moment.

How do you maintain such high DPS on Saurfang when you need to lay down traps?

Proper positioning. It takes less than 3-4sec to run in, drop the trap and get back in position, and you can use instants while moving, just time it so that you have instants ready when you move to drop the trap.

What about Blood Prince Council where you are in charge of keeping orbs up?

I've never had high dps on Blood Princes so I wouldn't know - it's not a dps fight, the only way to wipe is to fail with the orbs, so that's all I concentrate on.

You're way above hitcap and wearing a hit trinket, that's a huge amount of stats wasted.

my DPS isnt 9800+ as simulatecraft said.

If you're that far behind the simulation there must be something very wrong, do you always have all the necessary buffs and debuffs in raids? Are you pressing buttons fast enough and in correct order? (See the first post in this thread for the FAQ about correct shot priorities for both specs.)

thinking to buy arp cloak and logsplitters gloves (got wrists but not socketed and not enchanted yet) for MM specc and if DBW drops gonna take it also. if i use these items ill lose 4t10 set bonus. is it important that much??
after these adjustments ill get 900ish arp w/o gems.

If you're not wearing 2T9 then you should definitely be wearing 4T10, none of the off-pieces are that super awesome to offset losing the setbonus.

What do you mean with this?

im not using any rotation just using prio ones like exp shot, black arrow, multishot, serpent sting, steadyshot. maybe this is the problem?

Of course, what else would you use your potion cooldown on?

should i use rapid fire with heroism or seperately?

Separately whenever possible, Heroism alone will give enough haste that your Steady Shot cast time will drop below GCD.

I know that I have crap trinkets but I’m having an extremely difficult time getting new ones, lost the roll every time on DC & DBW. As of last night I have enough badges to get another piece of gear. Should I get another piece of T-10 gear or just get the badge trinket.

I have looked at the MM spec but as it stands right now I’m not gaining enough dps to warrant the change.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

7k sounds way low, do you always have all the buffs and debuffs in raids? Are you using the correct shot priorities and always casting something? (See the first post in this thread for the correct priorities.)

What's up with the agi/stam gems? Use one Nightmare Tear to activate meta, every other gem should be red or orange.

You have a hit trinket, with nearly 11% hit - that's way over the 8% cap, you're wasting a lot of stats right there.

Buy Greatness with gold, and another piece of gear with badges. T10 shoulders would probably be a good choice.

I was looking at the first post in this thread about shot priorities, what I saw was that you didn't mention anything about aimed shot in the surv priority list. So, don't you spec it in surv, if no what would be the best surv spec then?

Thanks for noticing, I fixed it. Speccing Aimed Shot makes sense if you don't need the talent point for something else, but it can be dropped for special cases.

I'm a Troll Hunter on EU-Kor'gall, and to be honest, im not really replying here cause i have huge problems with my dps or anything, BUT i am replying cause i would like a little "check-up" to see if theres anything i should do to increase my dps.

Some information about my playstyle:

I know i need some setbonuses, and i do have t10 gloves + 90 emblems, so it will be there tomorrow or something.

I use exactly the prioritation you listed. to go deep details:

I start out by putting up a hunter's mark, misdirection, then when the tank pulls i have a macro on my Chimaera shot wich makes it apply serpent sting aswell
So first i put up serpent sting, then i do Chimaea shot, then aimed shot (usally puffs my silencing shot at the same time with this), then i use my Cooldown Macro wich contains:

Potion of Speed
Rapid Fire
Call of the Wild


then i use Readiness, pop all my spells once again, and bla bla bla.

I use a macro for my steady shot wich makes it sure that i Auto shoot while doing steady shot aswell.

A little note: Kill Command is attached to all my spells.

I did around 8k dps on festergut (25man) last night, and i do around 7-9k on less-movement fights.



And the last thing, is im playing on an old laptop, so im playing with lowest graphics of all kind you can have aswell as i have the following FPS and latency:

10man : 5fps 280 latency
25man : 2fps 450 latency
Dalaran : 3-4fps 200-300 latency


I am not quiet sure if thats good or bad, but considering my laptop dosent have any graphic card, and 3 years old im kinda thinking its bad.


Anyways, if you could do a check and give me some advice / or whatever, it would be nice!

What's up with the haste scope? Even with zero haste crit is a better stat, not to mention with the amount of haste you have.

Should use agi enchant on gloves.

That crit gem makes no sense, even less so when you're not even getting a socket bonus with it (even then a crit/agi would be better, though).

You're not hitcapped, even with the talent counted in.

Enchant icewalker, agi or stam/runspeed on boots, not ap.

Putting a talent point into Efficiency is waste, especially with 2/2 Rapid Recuperation.

Your wolf pet is not level 80. Using anything else than wolf for raiding is throwing free dps away.

Mining is not a good profession choice for a dps class.

Using cooldowns right at the start is not always a great idea, if the fight duration is such that you won't get an extra round of cooldowns by doing that you should delay until setbonus/trinket procs are up.

Stacking haste potion with Rapid Fire is still not the best idea ever, I'd rather use it at some time during the fight when your IAotH (or any other haste buff) is not up.

You don't need a macro to do that anymore, not since 3.0 or so.

That's horrible. As in, low enough fps that it might start hurting your dps (not to mention how much "fun" it must be to play with). Latency is pretty bad aswell, though since your fps is so horribly low it might be partially because of that. I'm generally at 50-60ms while standing in Dalaran, with 50-150ms on Steady Shot casts (as displayed by Quartz) in raids. Except on the days when the server decides to lag...

There's a post on MMO-Champion forums somewhere with some tricks to increase fps that can't be done from the graphics settings menu, but unfortunately I don't have a link right now.

Gem agi/hit to yellow sockets where you can get socket bonus, use icewalker on boots, try to just hit the hitcap with 2/3 or 1/3 in Focused Aim without wasting points on going over the cap either.

You really want to get the 2T10 setbonus ASAP. Shoulders and chest are the best pieces for MM if memory serves. The way to choose items works mostly around hit and arpen; you need to be hit capped but not wasting points by going over the cap, and after that you want to maximize arpen (without losing important set bonuses).

As for spec, the "cookie cutter" MM spec is what I have (ignore the spec with 3/3 Hawk Eye, that's for special case fights) and you might want to copy that. You can move one point from Focused Aim to Rapid Recuperation if you get too much hit from your gear, doesn't make a huge difference most of the time.

I use just a few macros, one is Aimed Shot + Silencing Shot (their cooldowns overlap nicely) and the other ones are for Rapid Fire + racials + KC and whatnot.

I actually have the most standard User interface you can have,

You don't really need anything super special, having something to show your autoshot timer is useful (so you can stop to fire the auto if you have to move longer distances) and possibly something to track procs and cooldowns.

Obviously something to show threat (Omen), raid status (Grid) and so on can be useful but isn't absolutely needed. Case point: on PTR I was playing with completely Blizzard standard UI, without a single addon. Not the most fun experience ever, but doable.
