Cooleled,
Combustion combines all the period damaging abilities you've placed on the target (Ignite, Pyroblast, living Bomb, and Frostfire Bolt if you're using Frostfire..which i highly recommend not doing.) These will take the current strength of all the damge over time abilities you've placed on the target and duplicate them and lable this new very large DoT "Combustion"
So, this means it's best to use Combustion when you have high periodic damage on your target. The best way to achieve this is to ensure you have all your periodic damage abilities on the target. Your biggest source of periodic damage for combustion is going to be your ignite. To get a large ignite you need a heavy hitting Fireball or Pyroblast crit. This is best achieved through intellect/spell power procs or increased damage periods. i.e.; Hagara after storm/ice phases or on Deathwing during Cataclysm.
But basically if i lost you in all that..
Get a large ignite along with a living bomb and pyroblast DoT.

Guromin,
Thx for the reply. I did not have the 4pc T13 at the time of the run. 38K dps was what I was doing without it in a 10man run. I will change my strategy and just use combustion on big ignites rather than wait for cataclysm phase.

Hello there , i am new to this community :) I would like first to thank you about the effort you put into this guide and express my gratitude for the info you provide and helps me @ least make my gaming exp better.I would like to ask you about the new inc nerf on Fire mages , if Fire is still going to be superior compared to arcane in a single target Dps Fight ( Excluding aoe fights ofc ).

Snes,
I am out of town right now, but I've been meaning to make a post about this. Thanks to those who have been helping to cover for me :)
For those who have not heard Fireball and Pyroblast damage will be reduced by 6% in the upcoming patch. In all honesty, it was a needed adjustment because Fire mage damage is slightly too high. The damage change puts Fire mage damage equal to that of Arcane on single target. Chances are that Arcane will do higher damage on Ultraxion, but fire will still be the leading spec in most, if not all other fights.
Bottom line is that you will feel this nerf, and it won't be pretty, but the nerf will not cause Arcane to surpass fire.
I hope this clears things up for anyone confused.

Geezup,
You said you want to be in the upper 30's, but that's entirely dependent on the fight. I will assume you mean Ultraxion in preparation for heroic.
First of all check out my Ignite guide if you haven't already. It will help you to do more combustion damage.
Right now you are using Ti'Thak, which will do better raid damage, but lower personal damage. Not a problem, but something to keep in mind. Make sure to be aware of when it procs. During this time you will want to avoid using spells like Flame Orb that are unaffected by haste. If your trinket and staff are up at the same time you will want to be even more conscious of what spells you cast. Using Combustion while both are up will result in significantly more damage, so be willing to take a little smaller ignite while these are up (especially if there is any AoE).
Take advantage of dot spreading. I don't know how you do Gunship, but we tank the adds on top of the right drake, which allows for some amazing Combustion damage. This is even more important in the heroic version.
Your reforging has very little crit on it, which I strongly advice against. Here is a more optimal reforging set up:
Neck : MasteryRating -> CritRating
Shoulders : MasteryRating -> HitRating
Chest : HitRating -> CritRating
Waist : MasteryRating -> HitRating
Legs : MasteryRating -> HitRating
Wrists : MasteryRating -> HitRating
Hands : MasteryRating -> CritRating
Ring1 : HasteRating -> CritRating
Ring2 : HitRating -> CritRating
Back : MasteryRating -> CritRating
Ranged : MasteryRating -> CritRating
I also noticed your Living Bomb uptime is not very good. I would work on refreshing that faster because you are losing dps every second it is not on the target. Don't refresh it before it falls off though because you will lose 1/3rd of it's damage.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask

Hello Mighties Mages!
First, this is my toon > http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/g ... mbo/simple
I tested the second haste plateau, but there were no dps gain, but loss. Did I missed anything?
I only simulated on SimulationCraft + Rawr (50000 iterations with all buffs and debuffs).
I've added the .xml, if you want to check anything.
Test #1 (24.55% = GEAR + DI + NP + RAID)
This gear > http://pastebin.com/iekmbzS7
DPS: 46468
Test #2 (37.95% = GEAR + DI + NP + RAID)To reach the plateau I've changed some of original gear
This gear > http://pastebin.com/XBtb2Y2t
DPS: 46105
I don't belive, but can this difference be justified because I have only 16.91% of hit when I push the haste?
Any suggestion?

Fabriciomind,
First of all I cannot read that xml file. The only thing I can tell you here, is that it's not a dps gain with your current gear level. Chances are that you are missing a lot of crit to get the haste and it just doesn't end up being a dps gain. I do know of a few people who go for this (like Logoz - US Illidan), but the general favorite is to just reforge for crit > haste > mastery.
I do think it's great that you've been experimenting with different reforging. Being able to come up with better ways to optimize your character on your own shows class mastery and a higher degree of skill (in my personal opinion).
