hey iiris,

I am a ret paladin on smolderthorn. I like to use the festergut fight for a measurment of single target DPS. I pulled 10.4k on him which isnt really bad but i see you doo like 11-11.5k. Now I know ret paladin inside and out but I was just wondering do you gain that much of a dps advantage by using leather items? or is my lower dps just a blame on my trinkets ( WFS and DMC:G). I was also wondering if your are trixed or anything during these encounters.

Some leather items are a bit better than some plate items on those slots but they wont gain you over 1k dps, however I think the difference comes from our trinkets If you think you are playing perfectly other ways. Double Death's Choice which I have give a lot more dps than WFS+Greatness, 245 Death's Choice is about same as WFS but 258 Death's Choice is a lot better than Greatness, I think it was something like 300-400 dps better. So I think the difference you are looking at comes when you add up the dps gains from our trinkets and leather pieces, ofcourse there is some luck involved in every fight also. You should try to get your hands on 258 DC or Tiny Abomination in a Jar to replace that Greatness and you will see your dps skyrocket! =). And about the tricks and stuff, Im not getting any tricks or other that kind of buffs =).

I had a few more questions if you dont mind that i forgot to ask. My priority rotation with 4 peice t10 is this correct: HoW > DS > Judgement > CS > Consecration > Exorcism? Also do you use haste potions during fights?

Im taking most of my information from Elitist Jerks Retribution threads and I think the latest consensus in correct ret priority with 4pt10 is Judge>ds>cs>how>conse>exo>holy wrath. Yes I use haste potions, use them in sync with blood lust and trinket procs+wings. Syncing everything here isnt possible always but you should have some kind of addon that shows you your trinket internal cooldowns to make this easier, sync them if possible but use your wings and potion before blood lust has less than 20sec duration so you get full benefit of your wings and potion. You can also pop double potions if you know exactly when the combat starts and if you are not gonna use blood lust right in the start, one right before combat and then one in combat with blood lust =).

I also wondered why certain Retri's use leather for the agility and some don't. Is it only giving you the 1% crit 52 Agi or do you get soemthing extra from it icw raidbuffs? There must be something 'out there' if you're willingly giving up those amounts of strength and stamina.

The thing about agi gear is the agi gives you crit, but it also gives you attack power with the gear, and some times even more crit rating or haste ontop of that. The strength gear gives you strength(atk pwr) and sometimes crit and haste. On certain items the combination of stats on leather outweigh the combination of stats on plate. If leather didnt have attack power then leather wouldnt be an option, which is the direction blizzard is going in cataclysm.
