Hello!
I've been playing WoW for quite a while now and for about one and a half year i've managed to level up 3 characters from 1-85 (RO, DK, MA). However, as my rogue was my first char to leve up, i never hesitated getting him to 55 as my goal was to create a DK (got him to 85 some months later). Never hesitated levling the Dk to 80. I randomly made a mage in the idea to test out some new spells and just get a new char, i used about half a year levling this char up as i never had any motivation. Today, i do my usual 12/12 schedule every weekend with the DK, but hungers after trying out a healing char. I rushed my paladin from 1-40 within 2 days of playing recently to get a healing class. However, today I've lost my motivation to keep him going up. I guess i'm just too tired of killing 10 cows and collect cowmeat.
I get home from school, usually I dont have any homework this time of the year because of our summer break, but I log in to wow, and just sit on my iron-bound proto drake in Orgrimmar doing nothing while I COULD level my paladin up instead.
So, my question is. What keeps you motivated, and what should I do to get him to 85 within 2-3 weeks of normal gaming? It might sound like a "shit-question" as the goal obviously is to get the char to 85. Please do not answer this question if your answer would be to check out a levling guide, because that is not my purpose with this thread.
Cheers,
Oh, and as a final question. Priest or paladin? (Considering healing)

you seem to have forgotten druids and shammys can heal too, just sayin!! =P but for motivation (i know this questions was for paragon, but why cant the community answer too?!) I have RL friends that love to play too, and usually when of of us wants to make a new toon, we all do, cuz it adds to the fun! (i have 2 full realms of 85s haha) and also keep in mind, questing isnt the only way to level, if you want to be in combat a lot, you can also do dungeons, and only dungeons, with full BoA's on a toon, you can hit 85 by only doing dungeons, and depending on your class, in about a week or two. I dont play 24/7 either, as i am a sophmore in highschool, and only allowed to play on weekends (lame-o parents) it takes me a month or two, to get a 85, and as most players do, i go though my phases, and as this year goes on, im growing more social, and playing less and less. So just find things that are FUN to you, to help keep you motivated, and if you find the game getting boring, save yourself some money, and unsub till 4.2! Its all a matter of prefrence.

I leveled my paladin to 70 with mostly dungeons. I tanked them, got 2-3 levels from the dungeons on my level range when I did all of them once, including quests. Then I quested 1 level and went to a new set of dungeons (higher level ones).
I really liked tanking and I absolutely love paladin healing so paladin isn't a bad choice. If you want to get the absolutely best class for raid healing... a priest might be a bit better at the moment after the mana cost nerfs to paladin. But paladin will be easier to get to dungeon groups (if you are willing to tank) and easier to gear up, since it doesn't share caster cloth loot.

Okey!
Thanks for the information so far, both xsklcfkm (lol) and xeno ;)
At the moment I will rush to 50 with my paladin in level 40. From there I will rush from around 52 to 58 in winterspring and blasted lands before moving on to outland (unfortunately there aren't any CTA BGs for my level this weekend :( ), so I'll just have to cry while question through those bad zones over there. However, dinging 70 will demotivate me. (i really think northrend should be nerfed in experience points, don't u think?). 80-85 is rather fun in my opinion. If i am in the mood i might get to northrend within the weekend tho.
Really looking forward to those sexy healing moves from the female blood elfs while raiding (yeah, im a nerd)!

Why aren't you doing dungeons? That way you'd also find out if you really like healing.
I leveled my warrior from 15 to 72 by doing dungeons. I did less than 10 quests outside.
