While all the simulation craft for 4.1 has affliction ahead by a massive amount, I have yet to find it so.
I switched to affliction when patch 4.1 came out, and while i realize my rotation was a little messy initially as i built up muscle memory the dps in affliction wasnt as hefty as i had hoped.
I was averaging between 15-16k dps on most fights, with it dropping to about 14k dps at worst, and hitting 20-21k dps on burn phases.
Doing cho'gall again with our second group, i ended up respec'ing back into destro simply for the extra burst dps in phase 2. Being back in destro, im feeling disinclined to switch back to affliction at this point.
My rotation is as follows:
Haunt
bane of doom
Unstable affliction
Corruption
curse of elements
I use drain of life as my filler, and just keep up my dots and use haunt on cooldown. With drain soul being my execute move. If im in close range (fights like chogall) i use shadowflame on CD as well.
If there is no fire mage in the raid, i hardcast a shadowbolt every 30 seconds to keep up the debuff on boss.

Are you guys finding that affliction is significantly better than destruction. I find affliction to be an incredibly boring spec to play, soul draining (hehe) even.
Am i doing something wrong with my rotation, or my reforging/gemming that is affecting my dps? Right now I am just a bit dissapointed in the dps i am getting out of this spec. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
