Hello, i'm french so excuse me from the bad english you'll read. I know that most of the good players play with the keyboard, in fact the keyboard is interessant, we don't have look at the spell everytime, so we can look a the fight and react faster.
But isn't this only interessant for the damage boy (hunt, warlock,...) who do the same spells in a cycle?
I play on a tank deathknight, there's many spells, and i don't have to use it at the same moment like the damage boy, is the keyboard too ?
Thanks =)

Every role should bind their abilities to keys (instead of clicking with a mouse). Make sure you have the important skills on buttons you can push easily. The less important ones should be binded as well; you should consider yourself what binds are best for your playstyle.

i actually do the reverse. i prefare not having many key binds, i do however have some, such as convenient placement of closest target, previous target, tab target, some basics marks , skull x, nothing to fancy there.

im curious to know why xeno feels that all roles "should" use key binds so heavily. do you hold to this line of thinking even for the average raider who is not at the cutting edge of progression? is this not a personal preference? ofc, i realize the immediate obvious answer, that a key bind is a split second faster then a mouse movement and click, however in my case i use a hyper sensitive mechanical gaming keyboard and one of, if not the fastest dpi mice in the world. and after 4-5 years of playing like this, ive gotten pretty good at it, now in terms of progression , im a bit behind what xeno would be doing, not by much, only 2 normal boss and about 13 heroic ones, lol, but still , the only place i can think that this choice of key binding versus mouse clicks would make such an intrinsic difference is at the absolute top tier, breaking ground progression lvl, where ppl are doing new boss without tactic guides. this is nowhere near my lvl , i doubt it ever will be. i dunno exactly why i initially latched onto this style of game play, but i do know that if i had to play with all buttons key binded i would find wow very monotonous and boring. but it is my humble opinion that if you got fast reactions good hardware, and are not finding your decision making skills so slow when coupled with mouse movement and clicking that your hitting cooldowns, and interrupts 1-2 sec's after the thing you where suppose to mitigate or interrupt, then there is no real need to keybind.

would you agree xeno?

ps, kind of feel for some reason i owe you an apology coz i had for some reason thought you where a guy, then i saw you being interviewed and was like...daaaaaaaamn did i have that wrong, lol. mind you, not the first imba dk ive come across who is female and kicks my butt in every possible way, lol. mind you, im catching up, i do a whopping 13k on my bad ass dk now so give me about 14 years and i might just be as good as you!!!! well....ok...mabye im over reaching, but i can dream cant i :P

Not only is it slower, but it also takes your focus away from looking out for the fire and simply prevents you from doing anything while moving (for some roles). If you're bad you need all the help you can get and looking at the buttons isn't helping.

Clicking and keyboard turning is just way ineffective. Changing your style away from that is an easy way to improve your overall play whether or not you think you "need" it, all it takes is some time to get used to the change.

Rumour is that Rakez can top meters with a wheel and pedals, but hopefully he isn't doing it in progress raids.

well i dont know where keyboard turning came into it, i never said i do that, and ofc i agree with you on that point. in relation to movement of char and vital use of spells overlapping, i guess thats a good point too, but frankly, ive never had a moment where i found myself thinking, damn, if i had of had that key binded and not had to move i would have survived that. also it should be noted that in my case most of my major abilities are actually in the main hotbar so ofc there are times where i hit a numeric button. but for the most part its rarely an issue.

for example, i play my drood in the way ive mentioned and hes feral dps, low geared, and im not very experienced, hes only like 334 geared. but im putting out an average of 8-13k dps, whilst moving, decursing, chucking emergancy heals on tanks, tossing out the occasional root or sleep, etc etc. now in the case of this one class/spec, i would aggree that my style of play is a little less desireable , however, just to test it out today, i put every single major ability into macro buttons and took the whole mouse clicking out of the equation, it improves my dps by about 500-750. this is think proves my point to some extent. is less then a k dps at lower tiers crucial?

ofc i fully recognize that at the top tier i would have to adjust my game play to a full on keybind setup however i stand by what i said. at the lower tiers, i dont feel that setup is really required. sure, if you start out that way it will be good, but if youve played the way i have for years, its not crucial and your not going to see such a massive improvement that youll suddenly be downing heroics boss you where having 98% wipes on.

kind binds are good, but key binds cant make up for a lack skill, only time practice and persistence can do that, they will improve only reaction input and perhaps to a lesser extent focus and raid awareness.

If you don't want to improve yourself, don't.

When I'm healing 25 people I need to be able to target them while moving, which leads to keyboard turning sometimes and sometimes not healing while I adjust my position. I constantly notice the globals being wasted because of this. I imagine playing a feral druid is the case where this would come up most rarely.

On an unrelated note, you seem to equate doing something with playing well. It doesn't work like that. While healing, decursing and CCing as a feral druid might sound cool, you're often just wasting your time because unless someone is dead, you're not really making a difference.
