Question 6

From 魔音水蘭,2011/1/26:

Q:你們的RL是誰?爲什麽一直沒有聽你們提到過?我們非常好奇,你們RAID的時候誰在指揮?我們只知道Sejta是會長,Lazeil是MT

Q:Who's the raidleader in Paragon? We're curious about that if it's a total commander in your raiding. We only know the guild master is Sejta, and MT is Lazeil.

Question 7

From kevin,2011/1/26:

Q:我想知道Paragon對台灣服務器華人公會的看法,作為一個世界頂尖公會,有沒有一些想對他們說的話

Q:What's Paragon's attitude for the Chinese guild raiding on a TW server ? Do you have something talk to them as a top guild?

Till this point I don't think any of us had made any separate, new addons the whole guild uses. However, there are modifications to for instance grid and especially new timers we add to bigwigs when progressing on a boss. Most of stuff we add to Bigwigs will get added by the creators of the addon later, so everyone will have the access to the knowledge of the timers (and that way mechanics) eventually. There is of course the possibility that we could start sharing those modifications earlier (together with videos etc). I guess the best way would be to work with the people who update Bigwigs. The thing is that we lack contacts that way.

It would be great to get at least Kruf's answer to this, he and Kahva are the ones who do the addon work in Paragon.

As xenophics said, we mostly have minor modifications and fixes to existing addons, mainly BigWigs. We can probably arrange those changes to be released now that the content is downed - you have to understand that those are code written in a terribly hurry between tries on a boss, so the quality is not quite as good as it should be, though.

Sejta and Lazei lead the raids together, and Sejta does most of the organizing (like putting a raid up, figuring out the setups etc). The atmosphere in our raids is usually very relaxed, when we have bosses on farm we mainly joke and chat on ts as we kill the bosses. During the progress people usually concentrate without someone telling them to, so Sejta doesn't usually have to take care of that. If there are some decisions we need to make, Sejta has the final word.

I'd say we are a bunch of self-determining players assisted by Sejta.

Q:How do you figure out and improve your strategy and class combination in a new boss? Keep retrying and summarizing?

When we are trying on a new boss, first we usually have a pretty balanced raid setup, usually more healers than is needed we just want to see all the phases, abilities etc to see the big picture. After we have seen everything involving in the fight we start thinking how many healers is the minimum and what classes really perform well in the encounter. Usually its pretty easy to tell which classes are the best for each encounter: is there multiple targets at the same time? do you need good damage reduction cooldowns? or if any special abilities which only one or few classes have are really crucial for the encounter.

Q:What's the loot priority when you're pursuing progress?

We use a DKP system, everyone can spend their DKP on whatever they use in their mainspec in raids. When bidding on items people also use their heads to pass the item for someone else who will get more value out of it (not always though). You earn DKP by being in raids and after the progress is done we reset the DKP pool to ensure that people use their DKP while progressing and not saving it for the bis gear.

Xenophics already answered this and I had this written at the same time so here it is:
When we are figuring out tactics for a new boss everyone is encouraged to give their opinions on how to kill the boss/how to improve our tactic. After hearing all the input I make the final tactics and raid setup for the boss. While fighting a boss usually me and Lazeil yell stuff on our teamspeak others are contributing as well.

Hi I'm the new translator member of the Chinese team in this party!

Paragon是否会招募进度团成员,还是以自产的方式来填补空缺。如果招募对于新的队员Paragon是否会出一些近乎苛刻的试题?(Courtesy of sngzoo1437 on 2011-01-26 21:24 GMT+8)

Do Paragon constantly recruit for your progress raid group, or you mainly extend your raiding roster by motivating the potential of the existing roster? And if there was a fresh recruited position, is there any "insane" tests for the new raiders to measure their potential?

We've tried to keep our roster at over 30 players. At the moment we have 32 members (if I didn't count wrong) and are looking for a few more players. All our fresh tryouts have so far came from other servers; the randoms in our guilds are friends of our members and not potential raiders. We try to keep the current roster motivated and sticking together, we feel that it's important to have as little changes in the line up as possible. People usually play better together when they know each other. Tho of course we are always on the look out for new extremely talented players.

When we get new players we ask them: "Onko uho päällä?" which can be roughly translated to mean "Are you going to top everyone else?" In the beginning we pay a lot of attention to the new recruit's performance fail and meter-wise. We also monitor how he or she fits to the group. I think we've had only 1 guy who didn't make it to the member status. Either we've had very good recruits or we aren't as merciless recruit wise as one might think we are.

Ii interpret the idea of the question right I guess it's about the dedication Chinese guilds show when they play on TW server. If I understand right you have a lot of issues for instance with latency and raid times (you can read Ladan's interview on Stars here: http://www.raidingresearch.co.uk/?p=240 )

We respect the top raiding guilds overall in Asia very much. One of the reasons is the culture over there - you are very polite and handle your publicity with honor. You have some special conditions when it comes to raiding, for instance no PTR, patches a bit later, latency, extreme raid times etc. The fact I've personally loved the most so far is that you still concentrate on our own playing, only state the problems, don't whine and bash other, and respect the other guilds overall. That's exactly how we've tried to handle things here in Paragon. You clearly work hard in there and we respect that very much. I hope we'll be able to make new contacts, get great new friends and associates from China.

My personal dream for years has been a trip to China, maybe I'll be able to meet some of you one day!

Ps. I'd love to have some other members from our guild to answer this question as this only my point of view on things (even if a lot of our guild members agree with me).

Q:Blizzard has once mentioned the function of allowing players to observe a raid instance as ghosts, but there is no more information about it. Now that the raid in Cataclysm is rather difficult, such a function should be added ASAP.If possible, please post this request in the US Blizzard forum. Thanks!

BTW:We also expect the Chinese PTR. :)
