Hi all,
Was just looking to get some information on raid leading as certain roles. Historically I've raid led as a shaman, but planned to swap to holy paladin in cata (pretty comfortable with the changes and playing Hpala).
I'm finding it to be increasingly difficult to raid lead while performing well as a holy paladin considering the variety of spells that now need to be used, holy power, managing your personal/damage reducing cooldowns, focusing on grid and watching timers for the entire encounter, etc. I'm finding that either I focus too much on healing and not enough on raid leading (i.e. Good healer bad raid leader) or vice versa.
I was wondering if others have experienced the same (or if it is just a L2P issue)? I'm not concerned with leading easy/farm fights, since those don't matter, but it is from the perspective of harder fights/first boss kills that I'm asking.
My alternative is to swap to a DK tank (I enjoy playing it a lot) and raid lead from there.
Would be interested in hearing what classes/roles raid lead in your guilds and how you find it, either from a raider or raid leader perspective.
Thanks

Our guild leaders (Sejta and Lazei) both play tanks. They have the final word on the tactics we use, and they announce some things during encounters.
Still we have felt that ranged dps is in the best position to observe the encounters and announce stuff (like "defile in 5 seconds, combatress x, remember to move there and there, spread out, hey z you are standing in a wrong place etc). That's why I and at least Diivil assist on yelling some important stuff during the encounters. Ranged dps has the best view on the encounter; no grid to watch and your camera isn't inside some huge boss' model.
I'm not sure if this helped you.

I totally agree with Xenophics on that, i've been leading ICC as hunter,so i always have a nice PoV from where things are gonna hit like Defile etc.
also im only focussing on rotation and postioning myselff properly, so i dont have to worry about threath and healing people. so yeah ranged dps are the best role to raid lead in my opnion.
