LOL
So that's why my teacher couldn't stop laughing when I asked "Oletko tietokone?", shoulda been "onko sulla tietokone?"

Thanks! Finnish seems fun. Yesterday I learned "Moomin Momma has a big purse." So I should have known that.. :)

Kiitos Xenophics ja Jhazrun. Mulla on kivaa! Eilen olen oppinut "Moomin Mommalla on iso kukkaro." Joten olisi tietää. :)

Maybe, especially if you know English and thus quite a bit a German already. But isn't learning any language a pain in the ass eventually?

I can never remember this. I've walked into 2 girls bathrooms already since getting here :(

I'd say there are differences. If you look at languages worldwide, then every language that is not using Roman letters will be a giant pain (Arabic, Hebrew, Asian languages). But even within Europe. I'm from Germany and I speak fuent English. When I moved to the Netherlands for my studies I learned Dutch quite fast, same as all the other Germans, while the students from Finland, Spain or Romania had a much harder time.

Knowing a certain language might help a lot in learning another one due to them being more similar then others.

I think the only language with more grammar cases than Finnish is Hungarian if I'm not mistaken;

Im fairly certain that icelandic is a serious contender for most hectic grammar ever.

HI!

I'd love to have a shot at applying to Paragon, but sadly, skillzzz aside, I don't meet most of the criteria....however, speaking FInnish is one I do, even as a foreigner.

I just wanted to post this to give encouragement to any non-Finn wanting to learn Finnish. It is possible! A great way to learn/improve is to join a Finnish-speaking guild, or at least one that has quite a few Finnish members. I started my raiding in a Finnish guild (big up to any old <Kenit> guys!), who helped me to learn Finnish a lot. I then moved on to co-founding a couple of guilds with a mix of Finns and other nationalities, and now find myself happily back in a Finnish guild once again (props to <The Esoteric Order>!!), and realising how much I've improved in the 4 years since my first Finnish language gaming experience! :)

Tsemppiä kaikille suomenkieli opintoihin!

"Mikä palvelin tämä on?" would be "What server is this?"

If you want to ask "What server are you on?" it'd be "Millä palvelimella olet?"
