But you are right about the critical rate... in the 37.5 haste plateau my critical rate is 36%, while I have 40%+ with 12.5%.

Thanks for upload those in a way that is more readable ^.^

After looking them over I do believe that it's simply better for you to have more crit and not attempt to go for 37.5% haste. Maybe when you get a little better gear and don't need to sacrificial so much crit it will become more viable.

hi guys....i am terrible at being a mage >< really.....my dps was ok when i was arcance, but i only went arcane when everyone said i had to go arcane lol so now i've decided to go back to fire which is what i levelled with many moons ago...my problem is my dps has reduced by atleast 10k...i've been to every forum possible, i've specced accordingly, used mr robot and went to elitisjerks and i've looked up spell rotations and have combustion helper and now just installed rawr which is really freaking me out with its complexity.....my rotation 'usually' is scorch for the buff, LB,FO, then fireball until Pyro procs and i keep LB up after it ticks off and such...this is on a non-boss fight...in mobs i spread LB and do the usually aoe spells...my ilevel is 389 which isn't low....but i only do 'on a dummy' about 17k..and that is with food and flask...i do way less dps then other fire mages in say LFR with less ilevels....it's depressing and i don't know what i'm doing wrong...even if i could figure out how to link my armory thingo, that won't tell you what i'm doing wrong in my rotation ;( i think i just don't get it which is a bummer cause i love playing mage ;)

hey mate,
ive been wiping on ultaxion heroic for quite some time now and was just wondering if you had any hints on how to get more single target dps out of my character. Atm i have the cookie-cutter fire mage spec

(also arcane is an option i could consider, im just wondering if given cauterize and fires DOTs, it could be a better choice for this fight)

I've noticed a few things that may help you out.

Glyph of Mirror Images is a dps loss for fire. A small one, but everything counts.

Your reforging should look like this

Haste to 1505 > Crit > Haste > Mastery


Head : HasteRating -> HitRating
Neck : MasteryRating -> HitRating
Shoulders : MasteryRating -> HitRating
Chest : HitRating -> CritRating
Waist : MasteryRating -> HitRating
Legs : MasteryRating -> CritRating
Feet : HasteRating -> CritRating
Wrists : MasteryRating -> CritRating
Hands : HasteRating -> HitRating
Ring1 : HasteRating -> CritRating
Ring2 : HasteRating -> CritRating
Back : MasteryRating -> CritRating
MainHand : HasteRating -> CritRating
Ranged : MasteryRating -> CritRating

Mastery is really bad, especially at higher gear levels. I would suggest reforging to these specifications. I used Wowreforge.com to acquire the values.

I do want to note that with your gear you should be able to do at least 41k dps with full buffs on Ultraxion. Anything lower and there is a problem (or you had bad RNG).

That's all I noticed as far as gear is concerned and I don't have many tips for Ultraxion because it's mainly just stand and nuke. Our guild lusts at the start and has healers press their button so they do not become sated. DPS will get the burst they need at the start and healers get the boost when the damage gets rough at the end. Not sure how well it works in 10m, but it may be worth trying.

Always enjoy seeing you help other players and this thread is always open in one of my Chrome tabs.
It is really amazing that we are finally able to play fire again and i hope it stays this way and we are not pushed towards Arcane with the start of MoP again.

I just noticed that you said that Glyph of Mirror Images is a dps loss for fire, yet in the starting post you say it's the only one worth taking, would you mind sharing the reason for this change?

I am currently working on updating my original post based on some feedback I received from others. Aantu from Raiding Rainbows on Illidan (same guild Logoz was in) informed me of it's negative effect on dps. I was previously not aware, but it is one of this updates I will be adding into my guide. Honestly, I haven't seen the math behind it be 100% sure for myself that it is a dps loss, but Logoz and Aantu are strong, capable mages and both participated in the US first Spine of Deathwing kill, so I do believe their information is accurate.

I'll have the guide updated soon! I was going to do it this weekend, but my computer's motherboard caught on fire while I was installing a new hard drive. Certainly unrelated to my doings, but I have a suspicion that the RAM caused the motherboard to ignite. I have since then installed a new motherboard and processor. Anyway, that was just a long excuse. I will have the information updated very soon!

cheers guromin and im very sorry for the confusion, i believe you had seen my armory a small time after i had just reforged for arcane (as was asked of me by my raid leader for the 3% buff)
Im currently pumping 43k in fire and 41k in arcane (in this stand-still-style fight,
