I know a few hunter use macro to force a autoshot before our hunter shots instead of having it after the shot. I thought with Cata they had allowed the auto shot to fire on its own. Are such macro still an upgrade in dps at this point in game?

Here are the macro I am talking about.

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/cast !auto shot
/cast Steady Shot

#showtooltip Arcane Shot
/cast !auto shot
/cast Arcane Shot

Thanks

It's not necessary for instant cast shots (like Arcane Shot), but doing a quick test on a dummy, using the macro caused an auto shot to go off prior to steady shot rather than them both occurring at the same time.

And was that a dps increase? To use the Steady Shot macro vs Blizzard Steady shot button?

Also have been doing some survival test and it seems to me the explosive trap is better then black arrow even on single target on a 5 min fight I'd have 50 more explosive shot tick then with black arrow. Which was an over all 400k damage increase on the 5 min fight. On the test dummy with 3 heroic it wasn't even comparable explosive trap cause lock and load to proc after every single cool down.

I dIdnt test the dps, you'll have to do that yourself. :)

As far as survival and ES/BA, I think you're missing the big change. The ICD of LnL was reduced to 10 second and ES ticks more than BA, especially in multi-target situations. This gives you a higher chance of proccing LnL twice from one trap. Or something like that. ;)

You missed communicated my idea I believe.
The reason behind using explosive trap instead of black arrow on a single target.
Explosive Trap last 20 sec and has a 24 sec cool down, black arrow last 15 sec and has a 24 sec cool down.
Lock and Load having a 10 sec cool down, using explosive trap you can make sure to get the most lock and load proc possible. Since Black arrow has a 9 sec down time on its own you are almost guarantee missing 1 proc of lock and load. Explosive trap though being up 20 sec and having a 4 sec downtime you will achieve that 2nd proc more often. Like I said earlier on a 5min fight on a single target test dummy I would have 50 more tic of explosive shot using the trap instead of the black arrow. Which actually was a dps increase even though explosive trap does less damage then black arrow.

Wanted to see if anyone else had similar results as me.

So I tested the macros and to me yes it makes you shoot your auto before your actual shots but the amount fired in a 5 min fights stays pretty much the same. So I don't see any use for it there isn't an upgrade in dps. Tried it with having only Steady shot as a macro. Then tried with every single shot macro forcing even the instant to fire auto before the shot it self. So personally unless proven wrong by others to me it isn't worth it.
