Basic start is PS-IT-BS-Blood tap-OB-OB. From there on out there is no rotation, it's a system of priorities. You keep the diseases up without letting them fall off for an extended period of time and smash away. RP overflow should be avoided; just dump a DC prior to it and delay a strike.

[edit:] Seriously outdated. This was back in the UH-Obliterate days. Also using BS-Blood tap bugged out the runes, which caused you to create two instantaneous death runes which allowed for an extra Obliterate.

Yet another DPS DK question

Ladies and Gentlemen,

First gratz on the Lich King kill. I was hoping it would be you as I have always felt that you guys are one of the more honorable end game guilds.

Now, enough sucking up :). Here is my dilemma:

I am an Unholy DPS DK. I am specced 17/0/54. Here is my armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-shee ... cn=Deekaye

As you can see I am wearing 2pc T10, 2pc T9 and mostly 264, including Shadow's Edge. My problem is, I keep seeing DPS on meters like yours, and I know that my gear is not terribly behind, so I can't understand why I can't pull those numbers.

We will analyze the Festergut fight. My most recent WWS is found here: http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/9bj8 ... 174&e=7463

As you can see with my armory link, my glyphs are the normal IT/DD/Ghoul. I have a slightly modified opening rotation that is BS/RT/IT/PS/SS/BS/BS/Dump (so that I can take immediate advantage of Desolation), usually followed by Haste Pot/Blood Fury/Goyle (Raid lead usually B/L at this point as well), and then I fall into the normal SSx3/Dump/IT/PS/BS/BS/Dump. I also tend to AoD after the first cloud to minimize ghoul deaths.

The things that I have noted that I could do better are that I do not drink a stoneblood pot prior to the fight and I tend to save my Blood Fury cooldown for the 2nd Goyle. I also don't do a super job of managing my ghouls cooldowns (I typically leave them on auto and let him go to town).

The issue that I have is I am seeing some parses that exceed 12-13k on this fight and I can't believe that I have such a significant gear deficit that I can't make that. I am looking for your expert advice on what, if anything, I could do to improve. I am also noting that on Saurfang my dps is not doing super (I didn't link my last one because it was a melee heavy group and we were stunning one of the blood beasts to kill it, so the numbers are off). In ToC I was really doing well with fights like Beasts, Twin Valk and Anub (never made it to Heroic), but since they nerfed 4pcT9 it just hasn't been the same not using GoDisease. Is it really just a gear issue or are there areas that I could improve on? Any advice is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

Finally, I note that based on your Parse that my Festergut dps is on par, however on mobile fights such as Putricide and Blood Princes you are absolutely destroying me on the dps charts. What can I do better on high movement fights to increase the dps as well.

Hi, and thanks.

Usually, the parses that have stupid high DPS numbers in them include a bunch of buffs from other people. Stacking Hysteria and whatnot on one guy - this is quite evident if you browse some of the top DPS'ers. Sometimes they pad the stats with tons of useless extra AoE effects simply for bigger numbers. Those are the fights you should ignore and try to find one without such stuff happening. Having a very long fight length might also bring down your DPS somewhat, or having the fight end just before you get your cooldowns up again.

I don't really see anything 'wrong' in your Festergut fight. Just a little bit too little of AMS usage and only one blood tap - neither will jump your DPS by a ton, though.

Something similar for comparison: http://www.wowmeteronline.com/combat/11837969#damageout

At that point, I was still using T9 as I didn't have the badges to go for 4xT10. Same deal here - only one blood tap used, which was a bit of a fail. The main difference between me and the others is that I'm using the Glyph of Disease. Liha and Devah outgear me pretty heavily (and even more back during that kill). [edit:] Seems like Devah was trying out the GoD glyph on that particular kill too for the first time since the nerf.

GoD is still, by far, the best glyph you can choose. For one, you don't have to have a separate AoE spec anymore as you, practically, lose nothing of value. The good part comes from rolling buffs/debuffs through refreshing diseases. At worst, the glyph is about equal DPS to the second best glyph and will only get better as SS starts hitting for more. You also don't clip your diseases when using it.

GoD has been the single best glyph since release. The nerf to it hasn't changed the value much. Prior to nerf, you could apply diseases with all of the procs available and diseases would roll with that modifier as long as you kept refreshing them with GoD. Basically, whatever your modifiers etc were at that point, your diseases would inherit. This was changed in a recent patch, but only for the AP modifier. You still retain every single bit of +crit, +%dmg and such.

What all of the above means is you can roll the same extra +15% damage from Tricks of the Trade throughout the fight. Or you can fish for Cinderglacier procs if you swap a weapon - in some fights on some parts, you can easily afford the 2x1.5s weapon swap and still come out hugely on top (after all, you get +20% disease damage for the whole rest of the fight). This only gets better and better on fights with multiple targets [edit:] (the buffed up diseases proc higher damage wandering plague) or in fights such as Twin Val'kyrs - you can roll the +100% dmg buff throughout rest of the fight. It works pretty good with trinket procs as well, as your current AP gets applied to them instantly when you refresh. If you want to, you can basically have AP buffed diseases up ~70% of the fight.

Dunno if that was exactly the answer you're looking for. But I think it mostly covers it. The mobility fights I don't have an answer to - just minimize running in any way you can. Refresh diseases before said mob is gonna run off.

In essence: GoD is better than the three other glyphs by far. It's roughly twice as good as the second best glyph in every fight in ICC. You also get one extra global (SS instead of PS/IT) per one cycle, which is nice in almost every encounter. I'm very much GCD-starved in a lot of fights.

First time posting on a forum about help with my class. I usually just scout around and pick out the best things I can find (Kinda like what I did when I stumbled across these forums) that can help me improve myself more. So... I guess what I'm saying is, go easy on me please.

After reading this thread my curiosity was peaked when I saw the mention of Glyph of Disease. I had previously run with Icy Touch, The Ghoul and Dark Death, but am now very interested in Disease once more. I've tried to run with it in the past but never really was able to find a good set rotation let alone master it.

I guess what I'm saying is now that I've glyphed into Disease, I find it hard being able to get a set rotation where I can continuously refresh my diseases on time successfully. I've tried a number of different rotations which involve refreshing with too much time left on my DoTs, just barely enough time left, or... finding myself with my runes on CD and not being able to refresh in time at all and weep as I watch my diseases tick away (lol). I understand the rotation is very tight, but I'm just wondering if there is a solid rotation to be found because for the most part I've just been Rune dumping and SS'ing when available while watching and trying to best manage the GCD of my runes.

I've spent so much time on trying to figure out what it is I'm doing wrong (if anything at all) in my rotation and kindly ask for some assistance in the matter. I'm always trying to better myself so that I may be an even more useful asset to my guild than I already am and would appreciate any tips that you can give me in the matter.

One last thing I wanted to ask is that since Glyphing into Disease, I've been debating and trying to test out which glyph I should replace with it. I've tried both of these set-ups in glyphs:
Disease, Icy Touch, The Ghoul
Disease, Icy Touch, Dark Death
What I'm trying to figure out is which would be better over-all to run with... The Ghoul or Dark Death? Haven't really had a chance to try it out with raid buffs, yet.

Again. Thank you for taking the time to read this and am looking forward to the feedback.

-edit-
I am running two set t9 and two set t10 bonus with the three points in reaping for the extra SS.

That's my armory. Not sure if you need it, but figure I'd add it in just in case.
