Hello^^,

With the upcoming 4.06 update, there will be several changes for Dps DK.
Might of the Frozen Wastes talent will now give a 12% damage increase when using a 2h weapon.

I know the patch is not here yet, but what would you go for ? Would you keep playing DW or go for a good 2h weapon ?

I'm currently playing a Draenei DK, DW Frost Dps, as you may probably have guessed^^.
Here's my armory link http://eu.battle.net/wow/fr/character/v ... s/advanced

Thanks in advance for you answers

I've been trying to get a good 2H weapon for some weeks now.

don't you think that 2h and DW will be very equal with the buff and it may be an better option to take the 1h weapons wich only the DKs realy want at the moment?

if 2h frost will be equal to dw frost, you could consider going 2h so you can switch to unholy if needed (unholy dw will not be optimal with 4.0.6 anymore)

Dunno how Retribution paladins will be after the patch, but I wouldn't pass 2H to any other class at the moment. They just don't do enough damage to justify a raid spot.

With the patch, 2H frost should be right about the same with DW frost (if the spec is even needed anywhere after the HB nerf).

Howling Blast DPs loss will concern secondary targets according to patch notes.
Maybe Icy Touch glyph (20% damage increase to frost fever ticks) will compensate this a little bit.
Consider's guide on EJ recommends using it for Aoe DPS. I'll give it a try I think.

Yeah. But it's not like anyone used DW frost for single target fights anyway? For me it's a spec I have in the other tab in case the fight has some AoE segments where on-demand burst is a nice tool to have. Shitty in the rest when compared to UH. The Icy Touch glyph doesn't compensate for anything. You have to assume it was already in use if it was overall more DPS in a given fight; it's a complete non-factor.

Post-patch I doubt I'll have a Frost spec as secondary, the icons will both be green.

Makes me wonder why Blizzard didn't touch the AoE of mages or warlocks (other than what I'd say is a cosmetic nerf). Former is absolutely ridiculous in some circumstances (that you can easily manipulate), latter is just absolutely ridiculous in every way and 100% controllable.

I recently went onto the 4.0.6 PTR and did 3 tests for each spec/presence combination. The results followed when I set an average. This was in full tier 11 and the best in slot items available, slight modifications made per spec.(Does not include any reforging needed such as MOR mAstery! for frost 2h that some people would agree on, or anything of the like.)

Unholy2H/frost pres - 12.5k
FrostDW/frost pres - 12.3k
unholyDW/unholy pres - 12k
Frost2H/unholy pres - 12k
Unholy2H/unholy pre - 11.8k
Frost2H/frost pres - 10.8k
unholyDW/frost pres - 10.5k
FrostDW/unholy pres - 9.5k
While the results may come up differently for others, by no means am I an expert, this looked to be the average after testing.
note: I did not use any gems or enchants to show even results for raw damage for those who are too lazy to buy gems like me until needed ;D

Some of the results don't make much sense, just going by my own intuition, considering how our talents and such work. Without knowing any better, I'm assuming your testing method is flawed or your sample sizes are way too small.

You could be right as well. If that's the case, I'd expect more patch notes.
